Erik arrives

11 April 2017

{Erik called from the Salt Lake City airport and sounded GREAT.  He said he loved the MTC and was excited and anxious to get to work in the field}

From the mission president, President Evans -

Bishop Bassett,

I hope this finds all well with you.  We sent out the e-mail below to inform parents that their missionary has arrived safely and is doing well.  We do not have an e-mail address in our system for Elder Jones’s parents.  If possible could you forward this to them.  I was very impressed with how Elder Jones jumped right in and went out street contacting this evening.  He did a great job and is off to a great start. Thank you for recommending him for service!  May God bless you and your family for your service!

Warm regards,

President Evans

Dear Parent,

We wanted to let you know that your missionary has arrived in Rochester safely and in good health and spirits.  We picked the missionaries up at 5:00 pm at the airport and took them right to downtown Rochester where they went out and shared the gospel with people on the streets.  Each one of them placed copies of the Book of Mormon and many return appointments were set.  We then went to the mission home for dinner. Followed was a short meeting to cover some of the needed logistical issues of the mission (driving, finances, health & etc).  We then put them to bed because they have been up since 2:00 am and were worn out.  Tomorrow they will arise at 6:30 am and get ready. We will have breakfast at 7:30 and at 8:00 am we will head out to the Hill Cumorah and the Sacred Grove (we will take a group photo at the Sacred Grove and will e-mail it to you in the next few days).  At 11:00 am they will meet their companions and by early afternoon they will be in their area proselyting or serving at the historical sites (The sisters may have a full time proselyting, part time proselyting-part time historical site or full time historical site assignment.  These assignments will rotate throughout their mission). This is such an outstanding group of missionaries.  Sister Evans and I love them already and are very excited to serve with them here in the Cradle of the Restoration. They will send you an e-mail on their preparation day letting you know where they have been assigned.  Because of the various site assignments our Sister missionaries have various days of the week that are their preparation day, so it may be a day other than Monday. Sisters Evans and I will do all in our power to watch over, care for and help these wonderful missionaries to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. Please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us if you have concerns or need to share information about your missionary.  We truly do feel it a sacred privilege to serve with such devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. Thank you for sending us such a wonderful and prepared missionary!

With much appreciation,

President Zach Evans
